Tension Sculpture I
It was my fascination with synergy that caused me to begin taking my sculpture in the direction found in this portfolio.  My career in Architecture began from the search for engineering for a monumental public piece.  In 1977 the software did not exist, but now the engineering software is available to execute these pieces in scale.

The sculptures with black backgrounds are sketches for large installations. The elements of the sculpture are very 3-Dimensional, though difficult to tell from photographs. The round rods in the works are held apart by their own forces of tension, compression and tensegrity.  Some sculptures, as in the one found here, move with the wind.

The elements of the sculptures bear some similarity to the relationships within Society.  That the relationship of one piece assists others to be where it/they need to be in order that the next piece hangs together, whether fixed or dynamic.
